Por materia peligrosa se entiende a toda sustancia o producto que durante su fabricaci\u00f3n, manejo, transporte, almacenamiento o uso pueda generar o desprender vapores, humos, gases o fibras capaces de producir efectos infecciosos, irritables, inflamables, explosivos, corrosivos, asfixiante, t\u00f3xicos o de cualquier otra naturaleza peligrosa.<\/p>\n
Seg\u00fan el c\u00f3digo IMDG las mercanc\u00edas catalogadas como peligrosas para el transporte mar\u00edtimo se agrupan de la manera siguiente:<\/p>\n
- explosivos,
\n\u2013 gases,
\n- l\u00edquidos inflamables,
\n- s\u00f3lidos y otras sustancias inflamables,
\n- sustancias oxidantes y per\u00f3xidos org\u00e1nicos,
\n- sustancias t\u00f3xicas e infecciosas,
\n- materiales radiactivos,
\n- sustancias corrosivas y
\n- sustancias peligrosas varias.<\/p>\n
